Microneedling involves Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT in which dozens of tiny needles are used to produce micro-channels in the skin to stimulate skin cell proliferation and collagen production. This also increases the effectiveness of topical skin treatments. Clinical studies have supported its use in: 1) acne scars to improve the appearance of scarring, 2) aging skin to tighten the skin and decrease the appearance of wrinkles, and 3) even male balding when other methods of hair growth therapies have failed. It is also used to reduce pore size, scars, and stretch marks. Microneedling is unique from other resurfacing procedures such as chemical peels and lasers as it can safely be used in areas around the eyes. Typically 4 to 6 sessions are needed to achieve the desired result separated 4 - 6 weeks apart.
