Kybella
Kybella is an injectable drug that was FDA approved in 2015 to treat fullness under the chin due to excessive fat. Kybella is used to sculpt the area of the chin and neck. Results are typically long lasting, and thus does not require repeat treatment.
Kybella is an injectable drug composed of deoxycholic acid which is a naturally occurring acid. The drug causes lysis (rupture) of fat cells where it is injected that is eventually reabsorbed into the body.
It typically takes 2 to 4 treatments to obtain the final desired result. Each treatment requires 1 to 3 vials. Repeat injections are done as early as one month apart.
Kybella is ideal for people with hereditary forms of submental fullness or “double chin.” These people typically have more fullness under the chin compared to the rest of the neck that does not completely resolve despite significant weight loss.
To decrease bruising, it is advised to stop aspirin and other NSAIDs at least 10 days before the procedure. Arnica may be taken a few days before to help with bruising.
There is no physical down time with Kybella. However, some may suggest social down time for 3 to 4 days due to swelling. This process can cause some mild discomfort, tightness & redness in the neck region.
Our standard price is $500 per vial of Kybella. Each treatment session can involve anywhere from 1 to 3 vials, and the number of treatment sessions typically ranges between 2 to 4.
